But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
2 Thessalonians 3:3 ESV
Aloha OHA friends. It was an interesting day yesterday with our flight from PDX to ORD leaving an hour late and then our flight in Chicago having 5 or 6 boarding time changes until it was after midnight and they finally said the flight wouldn’t leave until today. We got to the hotel after 1am and went to sleep as we had to leave this morning for the airport at 8. The flight once again was late but the pilot made great time. We received a text as we were getting close to landing in Tulsa that our luggage would come later. My response to PJ was that we had to head to the mall because I couldn’t stand being in the same clothes again! Well, the luggage made it and the text was incorrect. I actually applauded when I saw it on the luggage conveyor belt coming toward us. We ended up renting a car because of all the time changes so as not to mess up Lonnie’s schedule. Tonight we had dinner with Lonnie (please keep Linda in prayer as she has been dealing with a significant UTI), and Peter and Donna, our friends from Kenya. Lonnie was on a role and we surely laughed a lot! It was great seeing Peter and Donna and catching up from our time with them in Kenya in January. The conference starts in the morning.
1 Samuel 3
Samuel has his first visitation from the Lord and hears the Lord calling him by name. (Samuel means Name of God, God has heard.) I think it quite incredible that the Lord calls us by name and speaks with us telling us things we do not know! The Lord tells Samuel what is to come to the house of Eli because of the unrepented sin they participated in while serving as priests. I cannot imagine that this was an easy thing for Samuel to hear. Fortunately Samuel feared God more than man and did not lie but told Eli what the Lord had said. Eli’s response was horrid in my thinking! He had an opportunity right then to ask God for forgiveness and deal with his sons but he did not do that!
I remember the Lord telling me that a person whom the Lord was calling to ministry needed to choose that day for they had many opportunities, or God would not ask anymore. The person came to the altar and with difficulty, I gave the Word of the Lord and later that day I was told by that person they were ready and would even leave their job to serve the Lord. Within a very short time they (and family) left the church, never returning, going back to their old lifestyle before they knew the Lord. There is still a break in my heart from this one.
God has chosen Yeshua and has chosen us to be His people. How marvelous is this?! Israel will one day be whom God has called the people to be in Him. Oh my, the Lord will never forget us! One day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Yeshua Messiah is Lord (Romans 14:11).
We are so blessed to have a heavenly language given by the Lord Himself. It is the Holy Spirit who gives us the utterance. Sometimes it is an unknown language between a person and God and sometimes it is the language of another as a witness to them about the things of God. Are we not living in the beginning of these days, people? It sure excites me knowing the Lord will one day soon return for those who call on Him!
39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
Thank You Lord for this promise for those whom I love that You are calling them to Yourself!
Meditate & Apply: The Lord has made it simple for us to get in His Presence and hear His voice an know His will. It is up to me to present myself to Him and receive this blessing. I am so grateful for the gift of the Holy Spirit. When the Lord tells me to tell a person words from Him I must do so without leaving anything out no matter if it seems difficult. I don’t ever have to be afraid of man as I revere the Lord. Just as prophesied, many have been returning to Israel since 1948 (over 8 million thus far). The Word of the Lord is ALWAYS true and always comes to pass.
Eli's response was selfish. I always want to remember that I need to think of my family, and set the good example, stay repentant and listen for the Holy Spirit. Eli didn't do that and his kids did their own thing, ignoring what the Lord would have them do. We are responsible for being the example, even though as adults the kids are responsible for the individual decisions.
