June 25
Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord. Jeremiah 23:24 ESV

Have a blessed Tuesday, OHA’s!  It was the day of double blessing from God during Creation (we got married on Tuesday-just the way it worked out).  The conference began this morning with two very good messages and an ordination service for new ministers.  We then had a nice lunch with our Kenya friends, Peter and Donna.   We are to be back at ORU at 6:30 tonight.
1 Samuel 4
The prophetic word the Lord gave Samuel who in turn gave it to Eli, comes to pass in our reading today.  I was also thinking how the people were trying to use the ark of God as a means to defeat the Philistines, yet they excluded God Himself from directing them to victory.  Yes, the ark represented the Presence of God and His Covenant with these people, yet they never invited His Presence to be with and assist them.  I don’t just need something or someone who represents the Lord.  I myself need the Lord!
Isaiah 50
Sin brings bad outcomes because sin separates us from God.  I like how Bob Dylan sang it, “You have to serve somebody, either the devil or the Lord”.  Even in weariness I am sustained by a Word from the Lord.  The Lord Himself always helps me no matter the circumstance that may look so huge in front of me.
Acts 3
I have something far greater than all the wealth of the world.  I have Messiah Yeshua operating in my life!  Giving a person a fish only feeds them one meal and they hunger shortly again.  Giving a person the Lord and they hunger no more for they themselves are taught to fish with the Lord alongside them.
19 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, 20 that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,
Yes, it really is that simple!
It is interesting that this chapter refers to Samuel as we are currently reading about Samuel also in the daily reading.  God sent Lord Yeshua, born as a Jew to the Jews first because of the Covenant Promise made to Abraham (Genesis 22:18).
Meditate & Apply: I don’t just need something or someone who represents the Lord.  I myself need the Lord!  God’s Word ALWAYS accomplishes what He says it will (Isaiah 55:11).  I am grateful for how wonderfully He sustains me.  I have a lot of history of God getting me through a lot of big circumstances!  Receiving Jesus is not difficult but it does take a truth encounter, acknowledging He is God and I am not and therefore must repent of my sinful ways and choose to live His way.  It is absolutely the best decision I ever made because it took care of all the rest of the decisions that need to be made!  When Jesus is Lord, there is a supernatural refreshing that takes life over in His Presence.  How amazing is it that Messiah was appointed for us?!

Amen to 'I don’t just need something or someone who represents the Lord. I myself need the Lord'. It's not going to church that makes the difference, it's that personal relationship. Just like it wasn't the ark itself that made the difference, like you said, it would have been God that made the difference for the Israelites in that situation.
