I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules. Psalm 119:7 ESV
2 Samuel 2
Hebron is currently in Palestinian territory and is where Abraham is buried. Bethlehem is also currently in Palestinian territory. No son of Saul would be able to remain King because the Lord told Saul this. Abner in this case brought peace. We are to bring peace wherever possible but of course not all will always agree.
Our God detests greed for unjust gain. Like Jeremiah, we should grieve greatly when the Lord’s way of life is not in the heart of people because of greed and injustice and just plain evil. Our part is important and that grief must lead us to a life of prayer for the hearts to change. I am thankful for our intercessory prayer people that meet throughout the week praying for others! God is so merciful and when we return to Him, He is so quick to be there for us.
I say often that if people could be delivered from evil, any of us can! Paul took every opportunity to share the Good News of God’s love and forgiveness. Am I doing the same? I truly don’t want to miss opportunities.
Meditate & Apply: Romans 12:18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Proverbs 28:25 A greedy man stirs up strife, but the one who trusts in the Lord will be enriched. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray without ceasing,
How am I doing on sharing the Lord with others? I must evaluate. Like many I had a best friend growing up in grade school. I have tried reaching out to her (lived in California) the past few years with little response. She had a difficult life growing up with a mom with significant MS, and a dad she never saw because he left when her mom got sick. She spent her high school years with another friend's family whose parents were alchoholics. She was married and divorced several times. She died Monday of lung cancer. She spent the past 20 years dealing with various cancers as she had the BRCA gene. I can only hope that she had made things right with the Lord before her death but won’t know unless the Lord tells me or I see her when I leave this earth. I don’t want to miss an opportunity with anyone…
I am sorry for the loss of your friend. As with my friend Mary, we have to trust that we did our part in sharing the gospel and depend on God's mercy for the rest. Love you.
Thanks Maurine! I'm really surprised how much this one hit me since I've only seen her once in the past 50 years! We spent a lot of time together growing up.
Sorry for your loss, that's hard when we lose track of people and then find out they went through hardships. I'm sure your prayers over the years worked on her heart. Great thoughts about bringing peace wherever possible.
Thank you, Lord, that our prayers are not wasted, but have great benefit, adding to your own powerful prayers on our behalf.
