But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22 ESV
2 Samuel 19
Joab gave David wise advice in this situation. I wonder if Absalom didn’t represent to David the mistakes he had made in his life therefore touching him deeply. David see no point in carrying unforgiveness and is there ever a point to not forgive as it harms the person not forgiving and no one else.
‘The Lord is our righteousness.’
It is serious to speak lies in the Name of the Lord!
2 Peter 3
God created through His Words. My own words can either create an atmosphere of life or not. The Lord consistently reminds me to choose life. Our God is never slow in fulfilling His promises. He just wants as many of His people to turn to Him as possible before He returns and time has run out.
17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Meditate & Apply: Forgive always whether my mind or feelings want to for if I am truly led of the Spirit, why would I have unforgiveness in my heart when my God has forgiven me all? The safest words to speak are those of the Lord which create life and not death! Time is short yet I believe the Lord is waiting for that very last person to say “yes” to Him.
Yes, walking in forgiveness closes doors to the enemy. Help us Lord only to create life when speaking, positive, encouraging. Thank You Lord for pastors who understand this so well and are so encouraging!
I felt the same way about David's grief that he must've thought back to what Nathan said to Him years ago regarding the sin with Bathsheba. True. Forgiveness is a choice and a lifestyle.
I think it is so awesome that God spoke, "Light" and light became so that now we know what light is. And we can create with words, too?! Whoa! Watch what we speak, indeed! Amen! God's patience is His goodness. And like PJ said, "Endure! Never give up! Winners never quit and quitters never win!"
