August 6
The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.  Psalm 119:160 ESV

2 Samuel 24

Why be surrounded with Godly council and ignore it?  It is there for a purpose.  So true, that it is so much better to ask the Lord for discipline than man, for God is so merciful and man (you all know when I say man I am saying people as the Bible does) … I also need to say that David had a choice to disobey the Covenant of God or not, in numbering the people and that God did not make him do it.  We all face temptations for our ego but every time it is up to us to choose.  The Scripture is clear in that the Lord ALWAYS gives us a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13).  David took responsibility for his sin.  Many always get hurt when sin is committed.  Repentance costs us something or it is not true repentance.

Jeremiah 27

Reality is there are many false prophets out there and they cannot be listened to by God’s people.  We must know how to hear Truth from our Lord (Does it align itself with His Word?  What is the Spirit saying?).  The Lord is always about restoration to His people yet there are seasons that seem like that won’t happen.  Yet throughout history, all that God said would happen, did happen.

1 John 4
It is interesting that we were just reading about false prophets in Jeremiah and here is John speaking about the same thing.  God is love and is about love, real love as He created it.  How wonderful that His perfect love casts away all fear!  It is so awesome not to live my life in fear!  Loving God and others go together.  They are inseparable.

Meditate & Apply: Be a listener to Godly council.  Real repentance costs and it’s not cheap!  I would be stupid to think I can scam God!  I think on God’s mercy often and am glad, “His mercies are new every morning”.  God’s Word always comes to pass.  Throughout scripture I am warned against false prophecy and to make sure what I believe is in the Book.  I am grateful that the Lord set me free from fear!

There is definitely too much in this world to rule out God. But, I suppose it has to do with your perspective - back to choice.

Love is the measure. I can have it abundant because I can rely on the Holy Spirit. Amen!
