I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. Psalm 116:1-2 ESV
1 Kings 19
There are several things that speak to me in this chapter. When we isolate ourselves it puts us in a vulnerable position thinking we are alone when we never truly are alone! After ministering, a person can feel exhausted and the best thing to do is rest and allow the Lord to minister to you. PJ came home very tired from men’s camp and other than his study for today, rested with sleep and taking it easy for the day. We must make sure we are nourished appropriately so we don’t become weak. And most importantly, God doesn’t need to act all dramatic in His speech to us so I must seek Him until I find His still small voice.
The plans of mice and men! What purpose is there in making plans without the Lord involved? When we do this, we end up disappointed because they are not the best plans for us! God warned the Israelis not to go to Egypt for what was to come but the hard hearted ones did not listen. Even in all of this, God’s ultimate plans for Israel will never fail. His mercy endures forever.
I am never alone in being a bearer of good news to the lost. My Lord works with me. I don’t want doubt and unbelief to control me. When I hear about the incredible things my God is doing, I want to receive the news with joy and faith!
Meditate & Apply: I am glad that we come home on Sunday and rest in the Lord! It is not a day of work after our service. ALL the Lord says comes to pass. I need to pay attention to His still small voice and not be looking elsewhere for Him. No doubt. No unbelief! All of the plans the Lord has for me are to bring me good and never evil (Jeremiah 29:11)!
Love Psalm 116:1-2! Yes! Wisdom! Seek rest and respite! God's voice is the still, small voice! Amen! Make plans with God or take God's plans. He knows the end from the beginning! God does the super to our natural! I totally rested on Sunday! My body feels much rested today! Praise God!
