I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 ESV
2 Kings 7
This is one of the five places I know of that speaks of windows of heaven in Scripture with two in this chapter (verses 2 and 19) and (Genesis 7:11, 8:2 and Malachi 3:10). The attitude and actions of the lepers was incredible considering how they themselves were treated because of this disease.
Though in this life we have trials and untoward circumstances, the truth is just as the Scripture in this chapter states:
21 But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”
25 The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
to the soul who seeks him.
26 It is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.
27 It is good for a man that he bear
the yoke in his youth.
40 Let us test and examine our ways,
and return to the Lord!
I can declare these things not because I have never sinned, not because I am all that, but because of what my Lord Yeshua did for me, taking my sin away with his forgiveness, filling me with His Holy Spirit and writing His Word on my heart!
Lack of repentance (which is completely turning away from sinful behavior and completely turning to live righteously in Messiah Yeshua), brings the wrath side of God in the end. I think many don’t understand how such a loving God could also be a God of wrath but He has made us to know Him and continual refusal of Him, to do things our way and slap Him in the face does not deserve His redemption. God is Just and He has to respond Justly. He has given all an opportunity to turn to Him and live blessed to be a blessing to others and if people choose to follow after evil, this is what He must do.
Meditate & Apply: The promise from God in Malachi 10 concerning the “Windows of Heaven” is such a blessing for those who choose to participate in God’s financial system. God’s faithfulness is beyond wonder in my life and I am so grateful! My take away is be grateful for all things. God is a Just God and I am glad. I must live by what He calls righteous (just) because He is my Creator. Keeping away from sin is the best thing to do yet should I sin, I must be very quick to repent and not do it again (1 John 1:9)!
The attitude and actions of the lepers was incredible considering how they themselves were treated because of this disease. = True. I hadn't thought about that.
Lamentations 3 - true. Not because of me at all, but because of God and what He's already done. Amen!
Amen! Live a lifestyle of repentance!
