“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; Isaiah 55:6 ESV

1 Chronicles 20-21

When it’s time to go out on behalf of the Lord, go!  If not, sin is waiting at the door to entrap a person.  Under the Law, the census was not to be taken so the king would not be filled with pride thinking he was all that (and a bag of chips, some say)!  David chose the safest answer knowing God’s mercy is far greater than human mercy yet his one sin killed 70,000 people!  If anyone thinks that their sin doesn’t affect others, they are not walking in the truth of God’s Word.  I have said it before that the sin of Adam and Eve affects every human and animal ever born and the earth (every time you pull a weed, weather conditions, pestilence…).  The sin of Abraham majorly still affects the Middle East and on and on and on!  Have you ever stopped to think how just one sin has affected your life and the people you love?  I sure have and though there are always consequences to sin, I am and will eternally be grateful that my Lord paid my sin price!

4 But King David said to Ornan, “No, but I will buy them for the full price. I will not take for the Lord what is yours, nor offer burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”

This is something I must live by.  My offerings to the Lord must cost me, not someone else, or it is truly not my offering!

Ezekiel 31
Same, same.

Galatians 4
It is so wonderful that I can call my God, Abba (daddy).  I love hearing the children call their fathers this in Israel!  How awesome it is that I am known by You, Lord!

27 “Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear;
break forth and cry aloud, you who are not in labor!
For the children of the desolate one will be more
than those of the one who has a husband.”

This is a quote from Isaiah 54 that the Lord gave me early on in my walk with Him when I was deemed unable to have children.  Many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, later with more to come and I also must mention ministry children and even those on the mission field (one named after Jason), I would say God’s promises ALWAYS come to pass!

Application:  I know that years ago when I found an excuse to stop going to church, I ended up backslidden and it took over 3 years to return to my God.  I ended up divorced and back in the world.  It affected my children and those around me.  I cannot thank God enough for His mercy and forgiveness!  You all have seen this with many others who stopped fellowshipping with Believers and growing their faith by the Presence of the Holy Spirit in the services and hearing the Word.  The truly frightening part is for those who never return to their first love of God (Hebrews, Revelation, etc.!).  People look at me crazy when I say, “I need to be in church” since I’m a pastor.  I know what leaving does to the heart of a person and it is never good!  God is my God but He is also my Abba!  There is no room in my heart for doubt because the Word of the Lord through promises to me, always happens! (Another is, when I was praying about marrying Jason, the Lord let me know we would be pastors and I had only returned to the Lord several months before…)  His promises include complete healing!  How GREAT is my God!

Wow, that was a lot of great stuff, very meaningful thank you. Our sin does affect those around us and so it's good to be mindful of that and not make rash decisions or yield to the flesh without thinking first. We have to keep in mind we represent Christ to others and their view of God can be based on our actions,,, ouch.
