Do not take revenge or bear a grudge against members of your community, but love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord.  Leviticus 19:18 CSB

1 Samuel 5-6

Blessing or cursing?  Choose this day whom you will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.  Once again, through this story, the Lord reiterates that His Name is on Israel and the blessing is for them and those who trust in God Almighty.  The great mystery of the Lord that is revealed so eloquently by the Apostle Paul in his epistles (letters) is that all can be saved, in fact this is God’s desire, whether Jew or Gentile, as long as they have true faith in the Lord, our God.  Even under the Law this was true yet became completely revealed through the death and resurrection of our Lord Yeshua!

Isaiah 51

My righteousness is near, my salvation appears, and my arms will bring justice to the nations.  The coasts and islands will put their hope in me, and they will look to my strength.

The salvation of the Lord is eternal and it is while on this earth we can choose to make it so by placing our trust in the God of Abraham!

11And the redeemed of the Lord will return and come to Zion with singing, crowned with unending joy.  Joy and gladness will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee.

The book of Isaiah begins with so much warning and ends with so much promise!  How can one read this and not rejoice?  I could have quoted the whole chapter but these are just a couple of scriptures that really stood out this morning.  What I KNOW is that God is good and good only and everything that is not of Him will pass on yet those who wait for Him will grab ahold of all things wonderful.

Can a person hide in secret places where I cannot see him?”—the Lord’s declaration. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?”—the Lord’s declaration.  Jeremiah 23:24 CSB

1 Samuel 4

As always, the Word of the Lord came to pass as Samuel prophesied it to Eli.  Literally, thousands of men lost their lives because of the insubordination of Eli towards God and the sin of his sons.  Sin affects many, never just the person sinning!  This is a truth.  Sin is the most selfish behavior, because of the consequences (usually unintended, but not always) it has.  The glory of the Lord departs when sin is in the camp and this to me is the worst possible outcome.  Lord, You know I plead with You to be in Your Presence, in Your Glory, so please shake what needs shaking at Kona Faith Center and please bring true worship of You in Spirit and Truth so we will see Your glory.  Not asking God first about any given situation is just plain stupid and brings disaster.

Isaiah 50

Here it is again – the unintended consequences of sin that whenever there is sin, negative consequences happen.  All glory belongs to the Lord – no man can carry it!  Those who love the Lord experience His Presence for all eternity.

But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen and guard you from the evil one.  2 Thessalonians 3:3 CSB

1 Samuel 3

You cannot KNOW the Lord without the REVELATION of the WORD!

Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, because the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.

It takes a bit of time to learn the voice of the Lord and it is important that we mentor people on how to hear and know it is Him.  The voice of the Lord will ALWAYS bear witness to His Word!

We must make every effort to lead our children to fear the Lord.

Although at times we don’t want to reveal what the Lord says because it seems difficult for others to hear, we must speak what the Lord has us speak to others.  I know for myself when the Lord asks me to do this it is never easy, yet woe is me if I refuse my God!

30 Youths may become faint and weary, and young men stumble and fall, 31 but those who trust in the Lord
will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:30-31

1 Samuel 2

Hannah is a great example of how I am to offer worship to my God. The offering to the Lord is holy and can never be treated with contempt!  Hannah sowed one child in faith (her first fruit) for the work of the Lord and the Lord blessed her with five more children.  I would say that is a nice return!  God needed a Samuel because of the wickedness of Eli’s sons and Eli honoring his sons before the Lord.  This is common and Believers, be careful!  Yes, our children are a gift from God but God must always be honored above all else!

25 If one person sins against another, God can intercede for him, but if a person sins against the Lord, who can intercede for him?”

26 By contrast, the boy Samuel grew in stature and in favor with the Lord and with people.  (Another like and type of our Lord)

Luke 2:52: And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and with people.

The Lord will protect you from all harm; he will protect your life. The Lord will protect your coming and going both now and forever.  Psalm 121:7-8 CSB

 1 Samuel 1

Hannah believed the prophetic Word from Eli: “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant the request you’ve made of him.”

How do I know she believed God?  Her response from verse 18b: Then Hannah went on her way; she ate and no longer looked despondent.

27 I prayed for this boy, and since the Lord gave me what I asked him for, 28 I now give the boy to the Lord. For as long as he lives, he is given to the Lord.” Then he worshiped the Lord there.

When the Lord gives me what I ask for, I am to offer it back to Him.

 Isaiah 46-47

46 3 “Listen to me, house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been sustained from the womb, carried along since birth. 4 I will be the same until your old age, and I will bear you up when you turn gray. I have made you, and I will carry you; I will bear and rescue you.

This verse is so significant because over 30 years ago the Lord gave me a vision of when I was born and the Lord Yeshua catching me, not a doctor or a nurse.  Now, I am gray and He continues to sustain me, bear me up, carry me and rescue me!

10 I declare the end from the beginning, and from long ago what is not yet done, saying: my plan will take place, and I will do all my will.

The Lord may discipline His children but He won’t put up with those who abuse them in any way!
