The Power of Prophetic Proclamation
Speaking Life Over Our Communities
There's something revolutionary happening when believers begin to understand their authority to speak God's purposes into existence. Not through presumption or wishful thinking, but through Spirit-led prophetic proclamation that aligns with the heart of God and releases His power on earth.
Jesus Christ Is Lord
This isn't just a theological statement or a nice thing to say in church. "Jesus Christ is Lord" was the bold confession of the early church—a proclamation that changed the world. It was their prophecy, their testimony, their declaration that shook nations and transformed communities.
Today, we're called to make that same declaration over our cities, our islands, our nations. Jesus Christ is Lord—not just in heaven, but right here, right now, over every situation we face.
The God Kind of Faith
In Mark 11:22-23, Jesus gives us an astonishing instruction: "Have faith in God"—or more literally, "Have the God kind of faith." He continues with a remarkable promise: whoever speaks to the mountain, commanding it to be removed and cast into the sea, and does not doubt in their heart but believes what they say, will have what they say.
This isn't about speaking to literal mountains. It's about addressing the obstacles, hindrances, and problems that stand between God's promises and their fulfillment. It's about prophetic proclamation—declaring what God wants to do before we see it manifest.
Think about it: if you can already see something, you don't need to make a prophetic declaration. You only prophesy what isn't yet visible to the natural eye.
Calling Things That Are Not As Though They Were
Romans 4:17 reveals a profound principle: God "calls those things which do not exist as though they did." This is the pattern of faith we're invited to follow. We're called to speak to situations, to communities, to hearts that haven't yet opened—declaring God's purposes over them.
Consider this: when you proclaim that hearts are open to receive God's word (Acts 16:14), you're giving God permission to do what He already desires to do. You're partnering with heaven to see His will accomplished on earth.
Your Testimony Is Prophecy
Revelation 19:10 contains a stunning truth: "The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." When you testify about what Jesus has done for you, you're not just sharing a nice story. You're prophesying what He wants to do for someone else.
Remember the demoniac of the Gadarenes in Mark 5? After Jesus set him free, the man begged to follow Jesus. But Jesus gave him different instructions: "Go home to your friends and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you."
The man obeyed and began proclaiming throughout the region. And the text says, "All marveled." His testimony became a prophecy that opened hearts throughout ten cities.
What has Jesus done for you? That's not just your past—it's someone else's future.
A Chosen Generation With a Purpose
First Peter 2:9 reminds us of our identity and calling: "You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
We've been chosen for a purpose—to proclaim. To make prophetic declarations. To speak God's heart over those still in darkness. This is both our privilege and our responsibility.
We were once "not a people," but now we are the people of God. We once had not obtained mercy, but now we have obtained mercy. And that mercy isn't just for us—it's meant to overflow to others through our prophetic proclamation.
The Presence and the Glory
When Moses asked God to show him His glory in Exodus 33, God responded by saying, "I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you."
God Himself engages in prophetic proclamation. He declares who He is:
When we prophetically proclaim these names over our communities, we're declaring His nature and inviting His presence and power to manifest.
Prophesying to Dry Bones
Ezekiel 37 presents one of the most powerful pictures of prophetic proclamation in Scripture. God brought Ezekiel to a valley full of dry bones—very many and very dry. Then He asked a crucial question: "Can these bones live?"
God's answer? "Prophesy to these bones."
As Ezekiel obeyed and prophesied, breath entered the bones, and they became a vast army. The key phrase is found in verse 7: "So I prophesied as I was commanded."
This is the secret: we can only speak what God gives us to speak. We can only prophesy what God gives us to prophesy. But when we do, God acts upon His word.
Look around your community. Do you see dry bones? People trapped in addiction, homelessness, mental illness, spiritual death? God is asking: "Can these bones live?"
The answer is yes—but it requires prophetic proclamation.
Pursue the Gift of Prophecy
First Corinthians 14:1 gives us clear instruction: "Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy."
This isn't optional for some elite group of super-spiritual Christians. This is a gift we're all encouraged to pursue. Second Peter 1:19 confirms that we have "the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts."
We're called to prophesy until the light fully dawns—until every promise is fulfilled, until every person God is drawing comes in.
No Excuses
The harvest is ripe and ready. Hearts are being prepared to receive God's word. The Spirit of God is moving, drawing people into His marvelous light.
But here's the reality: God doesn't move on earth unless someone asks Him to. He waits for prophetic proclamation before releasing what He's already prepared.
You are part of the solution. You carry the presence and power of God wherever you go. You have been given authority to speak life, to proclaim freedom, to declare God's purposes over your family, your workplace, your community.
So speak to those mountains. Prophesy to those dry bones. Declare that Jesus Christ is Lord. Proclaim that hearts are open to receive His word.
The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. What He's done for you, He wants to do for countless others—and it begins with your voice releasing His word.
